Safety Policy
Gledhill Constructions Safety
Policy follows all the requirements of the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and insists that all staff and
sub-contractors maintain the necessary check lists
and policies to ensure maximum site safety.
The Company Safety Manual provides
the basis for safety procedures which must be adhered
to by all employees and sub-contractors.
The company occupational Health
& Safety System has been accredited by the NSW
Department of Commerce and audited on projects by
the NSW Department of Housing and is therefore acceptable
to all NSW Government agencies.
An important
procedure in the manual is the site safety plan which
is the responsibility of the site General Foreman
and must be approved by the company Safety Manager
and the site Safety Committee where applicable. The
plan would include hazard identification and work
method statements.
The Directors of the company
receive monthly written reports on all projects regarding
adherance to the Gledhill Constructions Pty Ltd Safety
System from our company Safety Manager.
Our site safety system has been
carried out on numerous projects and approved by bodies
such as the NSW Department of Housing and the Olympic
Co-ordination Authority.
For the 2006/2007
financial year the company safety performance was
11,364 days worked with 6 lost time injuries totalling
57 man days lost to injury.
Industrial
Relations
Gledhill Constructions is dedicated
to good management of Industrial Relations on all
our projects.
The company's attitude towards
successful industrial relations has always been based
on developing employee relationships with mutual respect.
Each site supervisor is charged
with the responsibility of ensuring that all award
conditions and Occupational Health & Safety requirements
are met on his site. The non-compliance or deviance
from these conditions
are often the main catalyst for industrial disputes.
The company prefers that any
dispute that arises is first attempted to be solved
at the workplace level between the Site Supervisor
and the Site delegate. Failing that, the Senior Executive
is called in who is responsible for the overall company
industrial relations policy and management.
Gledhill Constructions are
members of the Master Builders Association of NSW
and their Industrial Relations Officer would be used
on the rare occasion when the dispute cannot be resolved
at company level.
The Company also has a policy
of ensuring that all sub-contractors comply with awards
and safety conditions and a check list and evidence
of compliance is required from each site contractor
before they can commence on site.
Over the 30 years of trading
Gledhill Constructions has maintained an excellent
record in industrial relations management.
